License Agreement and Author Copyright
License Agreement & Author Copyright
Upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication, the copyright of the article is transferred entirely to the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Journal of Theoretical and Environmental Physics (NJTEP). By submitting a manuscript, authors grant NJTEP the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the work available in all current and future formats and platforms. NJTEP does not operate an author-retains-copyright model.
Open Access and Creative Commons Licensing
All articles published in NJTEP are made freely and permanently available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), consistent with NJTEP's commitment to full open access.
What CC BY 4.0 Permits
Under the CC BY 4.0 licence, any user worldwide is free to:
- Share: Copy, download, redistribute, and transmit the article in any medium or format
- Adapt: Transform, translate, or build upon the article, including for creating derivative works
- Use commercially: Incorporate the work into commercial products, services, or publications
Attribution Requirement
The sole condition under CC BY 4.0 is proper attribution. Users must:
- Credit the original author(s) and NJTEP clearly and in the manner requested
- Provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 licence
- State whether the original material was changed or adapted
- Not imply that the original authors or NJTEP endorse the re-use or the user's work
Full licence details are available at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Attribution Format
When citing or re-using a published NJTEP article, attribution should include:
- Author name(s)
- Article title
- Journal: Nigerian Journal of Theoretical and Environmental Physics
- Volume, issue, and page range
- Year of publication
- DOI or stable URL
- Licence: CC BY 4.0
Example: "[Author Name], '[Article Title],' Nigerian Journal of Theoretical and Environmental Physics [vol.](issue), pp. [range] ([year]). https://doi.org/[DOI]. Licensed under CC BY 4.0."
Copyright Transfer and Permissions
Submission of a manuscript to NJTEP constitutes the author's grant of permission to publish and distribute the work electronically, in print, and through databases, repositories, abstracting services, libraries, and any other platform, worldwide.
Third-Party and Previously Published Material
Authors are solely responsible for obtaining written permission to reproduce any third-party copyright material — including figures, tables, extensive quotations, or previously published images — that they incorporate into their manuscript. Permissions documentation must:
- Be submitted alongside the manuscript
- Identify the specific materials covered
- Confirm that the material may be published in an open access article under CC BY 4.0
- Specify any attribution requirements imposed by the original copyright holder
NJTEP is not able to publish articles containing third-party copyright material for which appropriate permissions have not been obtained.
Moral Rights
Although copyright in the published work transfers to the NJTEP Editorial Board upon acceptance, the authors retain their moral rights under applicable law, specifically:
- The right of attribution (paternity right): The right to be identified as the author(s) of the work in all published versions
- The right of integrity: The right to object to any derogatory treatment or distortion of the work that would harm the authors' reputation
These moral rights cannot be waived and remain with the named authors regardless of the copyright arrangement.
Corrections and Retractions
Post-Publication Corrections
Where corrections are required to published articles:
- A correction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article
- The CC BY 4.0 licence applies to the correction as it does to the original article
- The original version of record is preserved in the journal's archive
Retractions
In cases where an article must be retracted:
- A retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article in all databases
- The retracted article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted
- Retracted articles remain citable and part of the permanent record
Authors' Agreement
By submitting a manuscript to NJTEP, all authors confirm that they:
- Consent to the transfer of copyright to the NJTEP Editorial Board upon acceptance
- Authorise NJTEP to publish the article under the CC BY 4.0 licence
- Have obtained all necessary permissions for any third-party material included in the manuscript
- Accept that any disputes will be resolved through NJTEP's established editorial procedures
